Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies are fairly common among children and adults. A knocked-out (avulsed) tooth, sudden toothache or a bitten tongue can cause panic in any parent, but quick thinking and staying calm are the best ways to approach such common dental emergencies and prevent additional unnecessary damage or a costly dental restoration. This includes taking measures such as application of cold compresses to reduce swelling.

If a tooth has been knocked out, pick up the tooth by its crown (not by the root) and try repositioning it in the empty socket immediately. Or, if you cannot get to the dentist within 30 minutes, place the tooth in a small container of milk until you get to the dentist. No matter what kind of dental emergency you have, please contact our office as soon as possible for emergency treatment. The sooner you receive treatment, the better are your chances of success.
